technology is exploding you hear about Ai and security breaches and in this environment we learn to ethically hack and be able to harden attacks against Networks so that I can prepare my students either to go on to college and learn more about that or go into the workforce so it's an exploding field and it's an exciting place to be okay we're here with Mrs Whitten in the business Tech and she's going to tell us a little bit about the shop hi my name is Mrs Whitten our main goal here is to teach entrepreneurship for the students hence the reason why you see us we're the students that are down in the school store we host that we go through a lot of different stuff like that so um my job is to teach them how to become a perfect business person Junior's also get certifications in retail as well as my seniors are now getting certifications in entrepreneurship and small business he got ourselves a 50 needle embroidery machine last year that we're hoping to be able to start using probably in the fall of next year so pretty excited thank you so much I'm with Mr lamothe we're in electrical and today we're going to learn more about it has a freshman coming in uh you're going to start off with low voltage and work your way through sophomore junior year um sophomore junior are a more exciting where you get to work with the wiring that's in your house uh also we do pipe bending and motor controls uh after you graduate uh what you would do is you would move on into a night school hopefully um we would gain your other 300 hours of related time and it would take you about 3 and a half years to get your license uh after working about 6,000 on the job training hours 49 here with Miss Nettie and Miss cardi in cat they're going to tell you about it today so I'm me um this is cat or the architectural side and in the shop we grab you to become more like an interior designer or an architect and a nutshell cardi and I am the engineering side of CAD and so if you're thinking about being an engineer you like to do Hands-On projects see your designs come to life uh this is a good place 1 I'm here with Mr ilio in machine technology and we're going to learn more about it here today um hi everybody so we usually start off with our freshmen and our sophomores working on very specific projects they usually make a plumb bob and then a 1 2 3 block and as they hit the end of junior year and all of senior year they end up working on more of their own projects when they leave here most of my students could get a job in Industry they just choose not to half of my students usually go into the military okay I'm here with Mrs the pace from health careers and she's going to tell us a little bit about the shop hello welcome to help careers we are standing next to 2 of our High Fidelity Sim mannequins um primarily used with our Junior and senior class um to prepare them to take care of real patients in senior year where they go off to clinical so they can learn all the vital signs they take the blood pressure on these semantic this mannequin happens to be Miss Roberto she even has an ID bracelet that they can scan just like in the hospital setting that we go to um the second semester of senior year for clinical um they will speak um we will practice DPR in these mannequins which they do get trained for um and it's a requirement for them to go to clinical 3 days a week we go out to clinical um and take care of real patients um for the first semester we're in a long-term care setting and second semester we're in acute care um which is Harrington Hospital and and they have an opportunity to do an internship of their choice um so our students are well versed in medical terminology um anatomy and physiology um and they end up getting their CNA certificate hi I'm here with Mr Ward to talk about carpentry today all right so we are here in the shop uh we are very fortunate uh we have a really well outfitted shop we have a lot of equipment um for the students to use uh which with the freshmen we do try to go back to basics and develop a strong Foundation um a lot of hand tools but yeah we try to do the basics with the Freshman um some small shop projects uh and then as they progress through the program uh and into their sophomore and Junior years the projects become um more involved more elaborate um and obviously the equipment that we need to accomplish these tasks uh become more involved as well uh we get into more shop equipment and power tools um making sure that all the students have a strong understanding of how to safely use the equipment um and then by the time they're in their senior year um they take all of that knowledge that they've acquired over the first 3 years and those skills that they've developed and they go out and they generally do in addition or a full build of some kind um utilizing all of the skills that they've learned up to that point okay Friday that were open um Tuesday days we get certain jobs where we have to set the tables or prepare the bakery cart for going around the school um we see the menu ahead of time and then Wednesdays through Friday we're usually open we have servers we work on the phone we do cashier we do to go around the school we have the bakery cart that goes around the school today we have the uh breakfast buffet which is with culinary and Hospitality culinary Works to make all the
